Pop star Solange is adding another hyphenate to her other multi faceted talents. She is now the newest composer of the New York City Ballet. Solange announced the history making news on Twitter August 16. The show will be The score is composed for a chamber ensemble that includes the orchestra for the ballet and some of Solange's musical collaborators. Her first show will be an exclusive showing at the New York City Ballets' Fall Fashion Gala. The Fall Fashion Gala for the New York City Ballet will be on September 28,2022. It is going to honor Sarah Jessica Parker. This event pairs acclaimed choreographers with the most trailblazing fashion designers. This combination has led to nearly 30 ballets that have reinvigorated the arts in an exciting way.

Solange is composing her score to the work of Gianna Reisen. Gianna Reisen is a game changing choreographer. She is the youngest choreographer to work with the New York City Ballet. She started choreographing for them when she was 18, now she is 23. This is her third collaboration with New York City ballet.

Solange is the second commissioned black woman to compose for the New York City Ballet. She is following Lido Pimientos piece, a sky to hold. Lido Pimienta is a Colombian Canadian musician.

 This is Solange's first debut in ballet. Ballet was very formative to her childhood in Houston she saw dancer Lauren Anderson, a black principal dancer in the Houston Ballet. She then said one of her dreams was to go to Julliard.

The Knowles collaboration seems like it will revolutionize how we look at ballet. Many people expressed their excitement to see the New York City Ballet because of the Solange collaboration. Fans flocked to buy them so much so that a virtual waiting room was implemented.
