5 Ways to Celebrate Native American Heritage Month
Posted by Aurora Tights on
November is the month of so many holidays. We gather with our families for Thanksgiving and we celebrate our soldiers with Veterans Day. But November is Native Heritage month as well. Here are 5 ways to celebrate Native American Heritage Month with the whole family.
1)Check out Native American museums and cultural centers. There are many cultural centers and museums everywhere, you just need to look it up. There is also the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture online to celebrate virtually.
(This the National Museum of the American Indian located in Washington D.C.)
2)Look into Native American Heritage Websites- If you want to continue your celebration virtually, you can go on the national park services Native American Heritage Month website. You will find out about important figures and events in history.
3) Deepen love of land and environment- Native American people have a special connection to their land. So you can deepen your love of the land by just spending time in your environment. Take a long walk in nature, (If its not too cold). You can make a fall craft with leaves. You can even go stargazing.
4) Read books by or about Native Americans, Native Hawaiians and Alaska Natives.
5) Try out/cook Native American recipes- I think fall is the epitome of trying out warm and cozy recipes. There is no better time to try some native recipes on for size.
This one is authentic Indian Fry bread, the recipe is linked here.
